How to Remove Pet Hair From Furniture and Carpets

1: The lint roller

Ideal for removal of hairs from cushions, clothes and the sofa. Gently roll the roller over the region you would like to remove hairs from. Go over the same place a few times.

2: Sticky tape

This takes longer than using a roller but may be effective depending on the stickiness of the tape! Use a piece of tape a few inches long and stick and un-stick to the area you would like to remove the hair out of. The hairs will stick to the tape!

3: A carpet sweeper

These may seem old-fashioned, but they’re an essential bit of kit for keeping carpets and your hard floors free from hair. They are extremely capable of removing all types of pet hairs from the floor (including fine rabbit hairs). You can buy battery powered or manual ones. The brushes on the sweeper simply sweep the hairs and other debris from the floor into a pan. No need to get the vacuum cleaner out!

4: A Great quality vacuum cleaner

There are so, although vacuuming the floors may seem an obvious tip for removing pet hairs. A vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter is a good place to start one that is easy to empty as it’s full of fluff is best! The attachments work best at hair removal if they have rotating brushes rather than ones that are static, so watch out for this particular feature.

5: A hair brush

Get an inexpensive hairbrush to use on carpets (especially those fluffy rugs). Make sure the bristles of the brush don’t have those bobbles on the end as this might damage the rug. Use the hairbrush at the direction of the pile, going over small sections. This will remove hairs deep. You can then go over with a vacuum cleaner (using the extended pile/high carpet setting) to get the last bits out. Note: never use a hairbrush on pile rugs as you will damage them.

6: A pet hair removal brush

A pet hair removal brush is usually made from a rubber material as you use it, so the hairs stick to the brush. They come in a variety of styles for different surfaces/furnishings.

7: A rubber glove

Put the glove on and simply “stroke” your sofa or cushions to remove pet hairs! The hairs adhere to the glove!

8: A damp sponge

You would like to remove the hair from in the same direction. The hair will follow the sponge.
